Is this cutting board dishwasher safe?

Our Bamboo Cutting Board is not dishwasher safe. We recommend hand wash only with warm soapy water after each use. Wipe with a towel and let air dry completely before storing. Also, remember not to soak in water for prolonged periods of time.

 

Can you use this board for cutting meat?

Yes, just make sure to wash it thoroughly after. For food safety reasons, we recommend having a separate cutting board, designated for cutting raw meat, poultry or fish.

 

How much liquid will fit in the drip area?

The drip groove can hold up to 2 ounces of liquid.

 

Do you need to Oil this board?

When your bamboo cutting board feels dry and looks pale in color we recommend applying cutting board oil or food grade mineral oil to refresh and maintain the surface. Regular oiling prolongs the life of the Bamboo Cutting Board.

 

Where are your cutting boards made?

Our cutting boards are designed in US by a professional product designer and manufactured in China as bamboo is native to that region and that's where almost all of the bamboo cutting boards are made.

 

Are your cutting boards formaldehyde-free?

Yes, they are. The glue used in production of these bamboo boards is formaldehyde-free, food-safe and non-toxic.

 

What is the actual weight of the board?

The weight of this cutting board is approximately 4 lbs.

 

Does it slip on laminate countertops?

This cutting board normally does not slip on laminated countertops due to its weight. However, if slipping becomes a problem placing a kitchen towel under your board with help keep it in place.

 

Can you use the other side of the cutting board, the one without the drip groove?

Yes, you can use both sides of the cutting board. The side with the drip groove is for food with liquid, the other side can be used for dry food or as a serving platter.

 

Is this board big enough for a Thanksgiving turkey?

It depends on the size of the Turkey and what you are planning to do with it. Many of our customers successfully use this board for carving or serving their Thanksgiving turkey. This cutting board is large enough for a reasonably sized bird - around 20 lbs.

 

What type of wood is this cutting board made from?

Our cutting boards are made from high quality Bamboo, which is a fast growing wood-like hard grass. Bamboo grows fast and it doesn’t need any fertilizer to grow or be harvested. All these properties make it an eco-friendly and sustainable material.

 

Is it safe to place the cutting boards in humid places?

No, it will harm the quality of the wood, may cause splitting or cause mold to develop.

 

Why did the color of the cutting board came off when it was washed with warm water and soap?

We don’t use any artificial colors on our Bamboo Cutting Boards, the darker color is achieved through the process of carbonization which involves pressure heating. As a result, the natural sugar in the wood produces a dark color. It is normal for the dark color to come off when it is washed with water and soap, the color returns to normal when you reapply board oil. Don’t worry, your Bamboo Cutting Board is still safe to use.

 

What is food safe mineral oil and where can I find it?

Food safe mineral oil is used to treat wooden cutting boards and utensils. It is used to keep the wood from cracking and drying out. It can be purchased at some grocery stores, and specialty kitchen shops or online.

 

What is the odor I smell on my new cutting board?

What you are smelling is the natural odor of the bamboo. It airs out very quickly.
